Dorval Interchange: Fabrication and Installation Challenges

Canam Group has begun fabricating steel components for the Dorval interchange reconstruction project in Quebec at its Quebec City and Shawinigan plants. Canam-Bridges will supply 14 box girders, the heaviest weighing in at 84 tons, and 16 standard girders. St. Lawrence Erectors is taking part in the replacement of Gardiners Bridge in Nova Scotia. It is a two-span 120-foot (37-meters) long truss bridge. Since the bridge has a rather short span, the launched-girder erection technique without launching nose is used.
